The age old question everyone asks at some point in life. Why do bad things happen and more important, why do bad things happen to good people?

The answer is this: The devil's a jerk faced poopy head and isn't picky about where or who he wreaks havoc on. God doesn't command people to love him or choose good in life. He allows us to choose and wants us to choose Him because He loves each and every one of us no matter what we've done in life or will do. His love for us is unchanging and unchangeable. It's our choice whether or not we choose to love God in return or not. It's our choice whether we believe He sent his Son to die on the cross as an ultimate sacrifice so we are not condemned for all of our sins and stupid mistakes. It's up to us to choose our destiny and our paths.

That being said, a lot of people do not choose God. The devil works through people as well as on his own and causes all kinds of strife, turmoil, disease and mischief. He's not picky, he tries to devour everyone and tries to get us trapped into his grips no matter who you are.

John 10:10 "The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy."

1 Peter 5:8 "Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour."

If you've read the end of the book, you know God wins. We too are victorious in Christ as long as we choose Him. He helps us get through and often carries us through all the troubles and turmoils the devil spews about on the earth. God helps us remain victorious to the end of the struggles if we trust in Him. Sometimes its hard - REALLY hard to see the coming victory, but regardless of what we see or do not see, it's important to trust in God and love those around you with all your heart even if we don't always "feel" like it. Stay Alert! And trust God.

John 16:33 "I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world."

Romans 15:13 "I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit."

Joshua 1:9 "This is my command - be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

There are also times when people we love dearly are stolen from our lives way too soon. These are among the most difficult times to get through. During these times, Jesus wraps his arms around you and holds onto you so tight. He holds you as long as is needed so your broken pieces will stick together again and you can eventually continue on with the journey God has called you to be on.

2 Cor 1: 3-4 "All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us."

Matthew 11:28-29 "Then Jesus said "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls."

The earth we live in today is filled with despair, death, pain, disease, anguish, burdens, unfair treatment of others, the list can go on and on... the devil and his workers are busy buzzing around everywhere. Our hope lies in Jesus. He died so we can be assured of salvation and not be persecuted for our foolish sins as long as we truly believe in Him with all our hearts and souls. Heaven is our hope and our final destination if we stay firm and pursue the path God has set before us and called us to.

Revelations 21:4 "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever."

There are times that seem unbearable, unmanageable and downright impossible to get through. Lean on God and trust in Him. Let His Holy Spirit fill you with peace, strength, and comfort through those times.

The only scars in Heaven are on the hands that hold you now. The hands that give you strength to get through the turmoil of this earth filled with evil and destruction. The hands that hold you and give you comfort when sorrow hits. The hands that calm your fears and anxieties when you don't think you can't go on any longer. Open your heart and let His hands hold you tight through all the storms.
