1 Corinthians Chapter 5 tells us not to judge or condemn non-Christians. That is up to God and God alone. Within the church family is where we are indeed supposed to bring correction to each other with grace, mercy, and tact. Outside the church, we are supposed to bring God’s love and spread the news of the gospel that Jesus came to earth, poured out His blood on the cross and rose again. He died so we could be reconnected to God, so we could have an intimate relationship with Him, and so our souls could be saved from eternal death.

We are not called to point fingers, as a matter of fact in Hosea chapter 4:4, it literally says “Don’t point your finger at someone else and try to pass the blame! My complaint, you priests, is with you.”

Pointing fingers pushes people away with all those self-righteous speeches and condemnation. That is one of the things that actually angered Jesus in the Bible. We are supposed to show the love of Jesus, God’s glory, compassion, grace and mercy, and embrace people in. I wouldn’t be interested in entertaining the idea of accepting Jesus either if all you’re doing is yelling at me about how I live my life and condemning me when I know for a fact that every single one of us has sin in our lives. I’m not condoning or accepting sin, I’m saying it’s present and will be until Jesus returns. Jesus forgives our sins, heals us, and starts to bring restoration into our lives once we accept Him. I know for a fact we all sin because of what went down in Genesis 3. There is no such thing as perfection and we don’t have the power to change people. It’s not our place and it’s not our purpose to try to change people on Earth. We don’t know what other people are going through, have been through, or what kind of healing they may need to even start that restoration process. We are not the Holy Spirit - leave the work of the Holy Spirit to the Holy Spirit. Personally, I know firsthand the Holy Spirit does a really good job of convicting me whenever and however often it’s needed. I find myself apologizing and repenting a LOT. The Holy Spirit is excellent at the job.

It’s like a plane. A plane was created to fly. If you start trying to use a plane to dig a new water system into the ground, it’s not going to be effective. It’s not the purpose of the plane. We know we live in a broken, sinful world and that we desperately need the love, mercy, compassion, healing, and forgiveness of Jesus. Every one of us do. It’s our purpose to spread that mercy, compassion, forgiveness, and incomprehensible love of Jesus to others. Colossians 4 tells us to live wisely among non-believers, making the most of every opportunity to draw people into God, not push them out and away with self-righteous condemnation.

What went down in Genesis 3 created a divide that cracked through everything that was just perfectly made by God. Because of this divide, we now have internal battles within ourselves, struggles in relationships, battles with creation itself, and a separation that was created between us and God. Sin is now a part of our world and will be until Jesus returns to restore Earth back to its original perfect state - to what He originally intended it to be. Jesus came to earth and sacrificed Himself in a painful, humiliating death to bridge the separation between us and God. To bring healing, forgiveness, joy, peace, strength, restoration in our individual lives, and love us beyond comprehension - to reunite us with God.

Titus 3 tells us that we were all once foolish and disobedient but when God revealed His kindness and love, He saved us. Not because of anything we’ve done or not done, but because of His mercy. He gave us a promise of eternal life and the strength of the Holy Spirit to get through these times on earth and heal our broken souls. We are powerless to do any such thing without the power of God, Jesus’ sacrifice for us, and the strength of the Holy Spirit. Titus 3 also tells us to not get involved in foolish discussions, quarrels, and fights about laws. It’s useless and a waste of time. It causes division and pushes people away. Tactful correction does belong within the church; Paul writes several letters doing just that. Believers helping each other stay on track with God - that is 100% Biblical. It’s not, however, a part of the process of spreading the Word of God’s love and salvation to others. It’s not going to be an effective way to draw people into Jesus and His will for our lives.

Pointing fingers of condemnation is not how Jesus showed us how to act when He was on Earth. Not even once. Jesus showed compassion, empathy and the greatest love any human being could ever show to every single person he could while on earth. He forgave sins and brought healing and goodness because He knows without Him, we are not good enough and never will be. He restored broken souls. He commissioned us to go out and spread the good news of the salvation, love, and healing that Jesus brings into our souls right before He sprung back up to Heaven.

Why are we not seeing more of that instead of all the crucifying going on? We are killing people on self-made crosses when Jesus already went to the cross for each and every one of us. Instead of pointing fingers pushing people away, we are supposed to spread both arms out wide and gracefully pull people IN just like Jesus did on the cross. We are supposed to spread God’s love and glory and serve others around us with humility. Throughout the Bible, God continually commissions us to look like Jesus, to model ourselves after Jesus.

Even Satan knew the only One who has the power to bring restoration, healing, and reverse what happened in Genesis 3 is Jesus. Only Jesus. In Revelation chapter 12, we see that Satan hung around Jesus from the day He was born until he swooped back to Heaven. Satan was right there in Bethlehem when Jesus was born, trying to devour Him and stop the restoration process Jesus was bringing forth for us. He kept trying to interfere with God’s plan right up to when Jesus went back to Heaven in the resurrection and now he’s still here trying to interfere with us - God’s hands and feet on earth. We are called to keep spreading the good news of Jesus’ saving power, love and forgiveness. We are supposed to be treating every single person on this earth like Jesus died for them because HE DID.

Look, I’m so sorry if you have been hurt, condemned, or felt rejected by religious, self-righteous people. This is something that breaks God’s heart over and over and I’m so so sorry. I’m begging you, if you haven’t given Jesus a chance because of past hurts, rejections, or misrepresentation of God’s grace and mercy, please reconsider and give Him a chance. People can be super big idiots and cause hurt and destruction instead of love and compassion like Jesus intended. Jesus is worth a chance. God loves EVERY SINGLE person on this earth so-sooo much. Regardless of what you’ve done, what the world around you thinks of you or who you are, what you’ve been through, or where you are in your life, He cherishes you. He delights in every microcell of you. Every single one of us on Earth. His heart beats and aches to be close to us, to be with us, to have a relationship with us, and to commune with us.

We all want so badly to be loved, to be accepted, and to have purpose in who we are. Jesus gives you all those things and more. God came to rescue you, gives forgiveness, grace and mercy, and values you so highly. In God’s presence, we find exactly what we were created to experience.

There is nothing that can describe the healing touch, the compassion and understanding, the burning strength of the Holy Spirit pouring through your inner soul, or the delight you feel when you have a personal, one-on-one relationship with God. There’s just nothing like knowing regardless of what happens on this messed up crazy Earth, God has my soul and I am safe in the hands of Jesus for all of eternity.
